William Tankersley

William P. “Pat” Tankersley, 66 died Saturday, May 26, 2018 in IU/Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

Pat was born in Coco Beach, FL on May 12, 1952 and was the son of William and Nola (Stetler) Tankersley. On Oct. 26, 1996 he married Mona (Gordon) Tanksersley.

He was a member of VFW Post 1552, Alexandria. He served his country proudly as a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, first serving in the United States Army and then relisting in the United States Marine Corp. after the war he was a member of the Indiana National Guard.

Pat is survived by his wife, Mona, a daughter, Shelly Brewer, three brothers, Robert Tankersley, Terry (Marcie) Tankersley, Brent (Heather) Tankersley, two sisters, Dianna (Pat) Anderson and Sandy (Alvin) Yanez. Also surviving are his two grandsons, Corbin and Colyn Greer.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nola Tankersley, a brother, Phil Tankersley and two sisters, Vickie Fairfield and Linda Ray Tankersley.

A service to honor Pat’s life will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria. Burial with military honors will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
