Treva Whetsel

September 10, 1923 — February 8, 2015

Treva M Whetsel, 91 of Alexandria and former Dunkirk resident was lifted up by the angels to her Heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 after a brief illness.
Treva was born on September 10, 1923 in Delaware Co. and was the daughter of Lorenzo D. and Nellie B. (Vance) Clark. She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School class of 1941. On Nov. 8, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, William B. Whetsel who preceded her death on April 13, 2010.
Treva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, former member of Bethel U.M. Church, Dunkirk where she was a Sunday School teacher and youth leader for several years. Treva was a beautiful, loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with them. But most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she lived her whole life serving Him and raising her family to know and love Him as she did.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Julayne (Don) Myers, her son, Bud( Susan) Whetsel both of Alexandria. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Devon ( Amber) Myers, Donalayne (Tom) Quinn, Marcie (Steve) Kellams, Abby (Cindy Mapes) Whetsel, Eric Whetsel, Cody Doan and Tyler Doan and 14 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Myers, Alexis Myers, Zac Myers, Madisen Myers, Justin Quinn, Austin Quinn, Peyton Quinn, Paxton, Quinn, Katie Hays, Macie Cox, Gavin Kellams, Rylie Grace Kellams, Jamie Mapes and Zane Mapes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William B. Whetsel, a daughter, Jama Roseanne Whetsel, a sister, Anna M Collins and grandson, Drew Myers.
A service to celebrate Treva’s life will be Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 2107 S. Park Ave., Alexandria with Rev. Michael Deutsch and Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Dunkirk. Friends are invited to call at Whetsel Funeral Service on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church or Bethel U.M. Church in care of the funeral home.
