: Sandra Lee “Sandy” Kantner, 73 of Alexandria died Friday, January 16, 2015 at her residence after an extended illness.
Sandy was born in Anderson, IN on Jan. 2, 1942 and was the daughter of Frank and Hester (Bronnenberg) Krischak. On Nov. 17, 1962 she married John A. Kantner, III in Alexandria.
Sandy was a graduate of Alexandria High School Class of 1960. She attended the Church of St. Mary’s in Alexandria and was Union President of Local 1963. Sandy retired from the Madison Co. Auditor’s Office where she was employed as the Bookkeeper for several years.
Sandy was active in the Democrat Party in Madison County and for 26 years was involved with Little League and the Babe Ruth program in Alexandria.
Sandy was a loving Mother and Grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling on cruises, trips to Las Vegas and wintering in Gulf Shores. Some of her passions were sewing and cooking and always had a big time going out with her high school girls lunch bunch. Sandy was a avid card player and enjoyed playing cards with her Anderson and Gulf Shores friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years, John A Kantner, III, her sons, Robert ( Shelley) Kantner and Frank Kantner both of Fishers, her daughter, Anna Allison of Muncie and her daughter-in-law, Christi Kantner of Homestead, FL., her sister, Carolyn K. Delong of Alexandria. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brandy Tranbarger, Andrew Kantner, Brian Kantner, Marissa Kantner, Nick Kantner and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John A Kantner, IV and a daughter Lora Lee Kantner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary’s, Alexandria with Fr. Dan Duff as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Bronnenberg Cemetery, Chesterfield. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
