Robert Smith

January 21, 1930 — July 8, 2018

Robert B. “Bob” Smith, 88 went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness in the company of his loving family.

Bob was born in Muncie, IN on Jan. 21, 1930 and was the son of Lonzie B. and Frances O. (Stinson) Smith. On Oct. 20, 1956 he married Marilyn J. (Greenlee) Smith..

He served his country during the Korean War serving with the United States Army.

He was retired from General Motors.

Bob was a devoted member of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene Church, Tuesday Morning Bible Study and the UAW.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marilyn J. Smith, his daughters, Diana J. (Grant) Kellermyer and Karen (Jerry Beeman) Wright; his brothers, Jerry A. (Marilyn) Smith, Alvin Smith; his sister, Noretta (Paul) Taylor. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Michael (Kiershin) Kellermyer, Faith (James Labold) Kellermyer, Whitney Wright, Megan Wright and Brandon Wright; special friends, John Teague and Wendell Zirkle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond L Smith.

Services to celebrate Bob’s life and faith will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene, 1401 S Harrison St., Alexandria with Rev. Mark Diemer officiating. Burial follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville with Military Rites by the United States Army and Elwood VFW Post 5782. Friends are invited to call at the Alexandria Church of Nazarene on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
The family requests memorials be made to the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene, 1401 S Harrison St., Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
