Robert B. “Bob” Fletcher Jr., 80 of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his residence after an extended illness.
Bob was born in Knox Indiana on March 9th, 1943 and was the son of Robert B. Fletcher Sr. and Sarah (Palman) Fletcher. He married Julianne (Cowen) Fletcher on November 27th, 1965. Bob served his country as a member of the US Army Reserves.
Bob retired from Guide Lamp as a security officer, but his “fun” job was a crane operator at Phillips Scrap Yard.
He was a member of the Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church in Alexandria, where he liked to volunteer and cut wood with the men from the church. Bob loved going to church and worshiping with his church family.
Bob was a former member of the Alexandria Eagles and a big fan of IU Basketball. He had many hobbies he enjoyed such as reading (especially Louis Lamour books), working the crossword puzzles, sudoku in the morning paper, as well as watching old westerns. And he loved spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his daughters Stephanie A. Fletcher-Salazar and Susan Fletcher. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Audrey, and Adrienne Salazar and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers, Morris Fletcher, John Fletcher, sisters Marjorie Fosler, Barbara Blessing, Nancy Fletcher, and special friend Ada Cross.
A service to celebrate Bob’s faith and life will be Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church located at 309 W. Washington St., Alexandria, IN. with Rev. Kal Rissman officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Our Blessed Savior Lutheran church from 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery with full military rites.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 309 W Washington St., Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
