Rex D. Carpenter

Rex D. Carpenter, 78 of Yorktown left the chains of this world to receive his Heavenly home, on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Rex was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 15, 1945, and was the son of Herman and Bernice (Timmons) Carpenter. On Sunday, April 19, 1970, he married the love of his life Marilyn (Brown) Carpenter. He served his country during the Vietnam War serving as Sergeant in the United States Air Force.

Rex made his strong faith in God his way of life. He was an active member of the Urban Light Community Church and the Antioch Church, both of Muncie.

Rex loved his family, always enjoying the time spent with them. He was a loving and wonderful grandfather, striving to attend every grandchild’s school activity or sporting event. Along with his wife, Marilyn, they were avid campers and enjoyed making several golf cart trips.

Those left to cherish his legacy of love and faith, is his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn; ; his daughters, Stacey (Chris) Hickman and Holly Brandon; his son, Joe (Emilie) Carpenter; his grandchildren, Jared, Jacob, Noah, Grace, Joel, Josephina, Julian, Frederik, Solomon and great-grandchild, Kalon; also surviving are two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A celebration of Rex’s life will be held on August 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Urban Light Community Church, 1400 S Madison St., Muncie, IN 47302.
