ALEXANDRIA: Rebecca L “Becky” Williams, 83 of Alexandria died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at her residence after a brief illness.
Becky was born on Aug. 15, 1934 in Summitville and was the daughter of Melvin and Lola (Davidson) Retherford. She attended Summitville schools and then graduated from the Great Commission School in Anderson. She later married Herbert Williams, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1990.
Becky was love music and writing short stories. She was a woman of great faith and will be remembered for sharing her musical talents of singing, playing her accordion, guitar and piano at area churches. She was the published author of a short story entitled “Edward the Deformed “and has left her family a few written but non-published manuscripts.
Becky was involved in several area businesses through the years and was a professional clown for many years and worked as a caregiver for hospice.
Through the years she loved spending quality time with her three grandsons, who she was so very proud of.
Becky is survived by her two sons, James Williams and Terry (Teresa Kettery) Williams, her grandsons, Dustin Williams, Matthew Williams and Michael Williams, her brothers, Alan (Shirley) Retherford, Howard (Bonnie) Retherford and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Williams, Jr., a brother Duane Retherford and a sister, Margret Langdon.
A graveside service will be held in Park View Cemetery on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Bud Whetsel officiating. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Guardian of the Children, Hanging Rock Chapter, 414 W. 5th St., Peru, Indiana 46970 of in care of the funeral home.
