ALEXANDRIA: Ray D. Meador, 76 of Alexandria met his Lord and Savior on May 20, 2019 at his residence.
Ray was born in Alexandria on Mar. 8, 1943 and was the son of Estel and Birdie M. (Sullivan) Meador. On May 26, 1966 he married Marileen (Smith) Meador.
He was retired from John-Mansville in Alexandria and was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church, Alexandria and Frankton Lodge 607 of the F & AM.
Left to carry on his legacy of love is his wife, Marileen, his children, Aaron Meador and Melissa Meador both of Alexandria, his sisters, Francis ‘‘Tiny” Boyer, Mozelle Harter and Francis “Fran” (David) Bunch. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Randy (Nicole) Shirley, Misty Hamm and Vanessa Hamm and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Effie Meador, Brothers, Gene Meador, Ralph “Duke” Meador, his sisters, Idell Spears, Polly Thrasher and Earline Trublood.
A service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
