Phyllis J. Isbell, 88 of Alexandria died Tuesday, February 04, 2014 in the Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.
Phyllis was born in Elwood, IN on Feb. 13, 1925 and was the daughter of Edward A. and Emma (Robison) Hennegan. She was married to Thomas L. Isbell who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1961.
She retired from Guide Lamp Corp. in 1974 and was a member of Lone Oak Wesleyan Church, Anderson.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Edward (Sandi) Isbell-Alexandria, daughters, Phyllis M.(Doug) Applegate-Greenfield, Becky S. (Terry) Six-Elwood, step-daughters, Louise (George) Wilson-Augres, MI, Shirley Underwood, Lula Lee, Peggy (Tom) Arndt all of Elkhart; step daughter-in-law, Shelby Isbell-Anderson. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Isbell, Brad Isbell, Andrew Isbell, Blake Isbell, Nicholas Isbell, R T McIntyre, Joshua McIntyre, Douglas (Amy) Applegate, Miranda Applegate and Grant (Shelly) Applegate. and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas L Isbell, son, Thomas H Isbell, step-son, T. Rubion Isbell, step-daughter, Betty Tucker, brothers, Howard and Harold, sisters, Helen and Mildred, step-grandson, Tommy Isbell.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial s may be made to the Alexandria Care Center Residents Activity Fund, 1912 S. Park Ave., Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
