Phillip Levi

August 19, 1936 — March 12, 2022

Phillip A Levi, 85 of Alexandria died Saturday, Mar. 12, 2022, following an extended illness in St. Vincent’s Ascension Anderson Regional Hospital, Anderson.

Phil was born in Greensboro, IN on Aug. 19, 1936, and was the son of Wilton A and Fannie L (Williams) Levi. On Sept. 12, 1958, he married Janelyn B. (Blake) Levi who precedes him death.

He loved racing, didn’t matter what it was. He was a die-hard IU and Chicago Cubs fan. He was an aviid golfer and enjoyed playing and watching golf. Phil loved sports in general, especially Alexandria-Monroe High School athletics. Later in life, Phil and his wife Jane were always at softball and volleyball games being the biggest fans in the stands. Phil also enjoyed crafting and creating sports souvenirs to hand out to fans and athletes.

Phil served his country in the United States Marines Corps. He was retired from General Motors where he worked in Plant Security. Phil had also been employed by the Anderson Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff's Department. He had been the sports editor for the Alexandria Times-Tribune for many years.

He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and always enjoyed being with his family.

Left to carry on his legacy of love are his sons, Wynn Levi and Darin (Suzanne) Levi and his grandchildren, Jared (Kari), Jillian, Kyle and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janelyn, and a grandson, Trevor.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made the AMHS Athletic Dept., One Burden Court, Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
