Phil L. Davis, 87 of Alexandria died on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 at his residence after an extended illness.
Phil was born in Elwood, IN on April 24, 1932 and was the son of Filmore and Merle (Balser) Davis. He later married Doris Davis who preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Navy. Phil was a member of the Orestes Baptist Church, American Legion Post 87, Frankton Lodge 607of the F& AM, Anderson Scottish Rite and the National Rifle Association.
Phil was retired from the Delaware Community School Corporation, where he taught science at Delta High School.
Surviving are his children, Michael Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Davis of Smithville, MO., and Trina Davis of Clearwater, FL; his grandchildren, Breann Ellis-Hines, Evan (Christine) Davis and Aerin Davis and step-grandson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and great-grandchildren, William Davis, Zoey Hines, Logan Hines, Kali Hines.
A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Michael Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A masonic service conducted by the Frankton Lodge 607 of the F&AM will be held at 6:00 p.m. to close the time of visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the Madison Co. Humane Society, 2219 Crystal St., Anderson, IN 46012 or a charity of the Donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
