Ned N Crotinger, 83 of Alexandria went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday after an extended illness.
Ned was born on July 12, 1930 in Bison , KS and was the son of Chester H. and Ollie V. (Butler) Crotinger. On May 11, 1973 he married Freda (Teague) Crotinger.
Ned served his country during the Korean War with United States Army.
Before retiring Ned was a truck driver for State Plating in Elwood. Ned was a member of the Monroe Fellowship Church and Fairmount Post 313 of the American Legion.
He always enjoyed spending time with his family and making cars, trains and airplanes out of tin cans.
Surviving is his wife, Freda, four sons, Larry (Edie) Crotinger, Chester T. Crotinger, Mark L.(Carol) Crotinger and Frank (Rebecca) Reynolds; five daughters, Mildred F. (Jack) Bunyard, Linda (Steve) Hilligoss, Nettie Chambers, Bretta (Mike) Hull and Paula (Steve) Faircloth; one sister, Fern Axman. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Gloria Bright, sisters, Beth Scneider and Ruthetta Hurst, and a granddaughter, Tycha Sterling.
Services will be on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with his daughter Linda Hilligoss officiating with assistance of her family. Burial will follow in the Park View Cemetery, Alexandria with military honors by the U.S. Army and Elwood VFW Post 5782. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
