Minette M Silvey, 87 of Summitville died Friday, January 20, 2017 in Miller’s Merry Manor after an extended illness.
Minette was born on April 7, 1929 in Trenton, IL and was the daughter of Harry and Olinda (Specht) Stiften, Sr. On May 27, 1950 she married William E. Silvey.
She was a member of the Church of St. Mary’s and a former member of the Home Economics Club. For several years Minette enjoyed doing woodworking and spending their winter vacations in Okeechobee, FL. for 20 years.
Minette was a homemaker but had previously worked at Red Gold and in the cafeteria at Madison-Grant School Corp.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol ( friend Rex Giger)Abbott Leech, Sandy (Jeff) Cole, three sons, Michael (Pennie) Silvey, Ronnie (Brenda) Silvey, Terry (Stacy) Silvey. Also suriving are her grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Gates, Vanessa Silvey, Kami (Danny) Deckard, Marcie (Brandon) Stoner, Tonya Silvey, Kasey (Justin) Bohlander, Jay Silvey, Devon Silvey, Nicole (Nathan) Sylvester, Scott Silvey, Brandon (Diana) Silvey and Greggory Silvey , great-grandchildren, Jordon, Carlin, Olivia, Sienna, Reagan, Trace, Conner, Aaron and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William E. Silvey, two sons, Matt Silvey, Richard Silvey and son-in-law, Howard Leech.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary’s, 820 W. Madison St., Alexandria with Fr. Dan Duff as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Forrestville Cemetery, Boone Twp. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. A Rosary Service will conclude the visiting hours at 5:30 p.m.
