Mary Metcalf

Mary M Metcalf, 91 of Summitville died Friday, May 18, 2012 in the Summit Convalescent Center, Summitville after an extended illness.

Mary was born on Nov. 3, 1920 in Anderson and was the daughter of Leo and Faye (Etchison) Porter Eppard. On Aug. 3, 1940 she married Weldon B. Metcalf who preceded her in death on Mar. 3, 2012.

Mary was a member of the Summitville Baptist Church. Mary had been employed by the Glove Corporation, Alexandria and was a home maker.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Terry Metcalf of Virginia Beach, VA. Two daughters, Peggy Woolridge of Sullivan, IL and Vickie (Charlie) Wise of Summitville.
Two sisters, Barbra (Ralph) Wilson of Alexandria and Carolyn Andrews-Porter of Joliet, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Scott (Jenny) Martin of Summitville, Kristena (Tim) Simpson of Muncie, Ty Metcalf of Alexandria, MA3 Matthew Thurston of the United States Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge. Two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Rylie Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Sandra Metcalf.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Anthony Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Summitville Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home.
