Mary Lou Leach, 85 of Alexandria died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 after a sudden illness.
Mary was born in Alexandria on September 11, 1934 and was the daughter of Lewis R and Mary M. (Imel) Disbennett. On June 23, 1951 she married Edgar F. Leach who survives.
Mary had been employed by Cox’s Supermarket, K-Mart in Anderson. She had been a babysitter for area families for over 50 years.
She was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Club, Alexandria Quilt Guild, and Tops.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ed Leach, her son, Ken (Martha) Leach of Alexandria, her daughter, Debi Johnson of Warren; her sister-in-law, Janene Southwick. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nicci (Gus) Rosen, Brian (Shannon Lynn) Leach, Tabitha (Brett) Suman; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Jonathan) Combs, Caitlin (Michael) McIntyre, Darius Vogleman, Damek Voleman, Bailey Suman, Macenzie Suman, Jayden Suman and her great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Keira, Rhylan, Andrew, Eljah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Michael Johnson and great-granddaughter, Serena Rosen.
A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
