ALEXANDRIA: Mark James Feller, Sr., 67 of Alexandria died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018 at his residence after a sudden illness.
Mark was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 13, 1951 and was the son of Kenneth J. and Betty J. (Rees) Feller. He was a member of Class of 1969 at Alexandria-Monroe High School.
Mark was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, a Bronze Star Medal and numinous other medals and commendations. Mark retired from the United States Army and then later retired from the Crane Naval Base.
He was a member of the Alexandria Eagles Aires 1771, Elks Lodge, VFW and Alexander Bright Post 87 of the American Legion.
Mark was a classic car enthusiast and avid attender to area car shows and races. He was also a fan of Indiana Hoosiers basketball.
Survivors include his children, Mark J Feller, Jr. and Anne Feller, a brother, Rob (Kelly) Feller, a sister, Pam (Doug) Stroud and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Feller.
A service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Bud Whetsel officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and Elwood VFW Post 5782. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. The Alexandria Eagles Lodge will hold a memorial service on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
