Lynne Ann King, 74 of Alexandria died Wednesday, Jan 3, 2018 in Community Hospital while in the company of her loving family.
Lynne was born in Anderson on Sept. 22, 1943 and was the daughter of Robert H and Maxine L. (Presser) Chaney. On Nov. 18, 1961 she married James L King. She was a 1961 graduate of Lapel High School and attended Purdue University.
She was a member of the Church of St. Mary’s, Alexandria Eagles Lodge Auxiliary and the Madison Co. Democrat Assn.
Lynne retired after 26 years from the City of Alexandria where she was the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. She also was employed for 13 years as the Court Reporter for Judge Newman in Madison Co. Superior Court 3 and spent 21 years as the Beulah Park Caretaker.
Lynne was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. One of Lynne’s favorite past times was being an avid Purdue basketball fan.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, James (Jim) King, her son, Bryan (Monica) King, her daughters, LeeAnne (Dennis) Fisher and Tina (Dan) Stanley, her brother, Robert D Chaney. Also surviving are her grandchildren Lauren Ormsby, Megan Smith, Jack Fisher, Josi Fisher, Madison King, Bryce King, Brennan King, Blaise King, Maya King, Melia King and great-grandson Kamden Ormsby, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Church of St. Mary’s 804 W Madison St., Alexandria with Fr. Dan Duff as Celebrant. A private family burial of Cremains will be held at a later date in the IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S Park Ave, Alexandria on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the American Heart Assn. in care of the funeral home.
