Lowell E. Lillard, 82 of Alexandria died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his residence while in the company of his loving family after an extended illness.
Lowell was born in Lebanon, MO on June 11, 1939, and was the son of Daniel and Lottie (Rodgers) Lillard. He later married Dawn W. (Rose) Lillard on June 27, 1997.
He was a member of the Elwood Guiding Light Ministries, Eagles Lodge Aeries 1771 of Alexandria, and an auxiliary member of the Alexandria VFW.
Lowell was the owner and operator of the Acme Salvage in Anderson. He was a collector of all things. He was a picker before picking was popular. He enjoyed dealing in antiques, rummage sales and salvage. He was a generous man; not a day went by that he didn’t give away something that he had acquired.
Lowell was a loving husband, father and grandfather and always enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory, is his wife of almost 27 years, Dawn, his children, Bill (Kim) Lillard, Lisa (Tony) Bailey and Jamie Rose. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Lance (Ciera Clem) Lillard, , Clayton Lillard, Kyal Niccum, Ryan Niccum, Brandy Bowers, Evan Niccum, Derrick Bowers, and Justin Bowers. His great-grandchildren, Dixie Croy and Nova Lillard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Beth Lillard, 10 siblings, a grandchild, Jacob Lillard, and great-grandchildren, Uriah Croy and Jacob Daniel Niccum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria.
