Judith Marie “Judy” Lane, who peacefully departed this world on December 24, 2023, at the age of 82, surrounded by her devoted family at the Alexandria Care Center. Her passing follows a brave battle against an extended illness, demonstrating the strength and resilience that characterized her remarkable life.
Born on June 25, 1941, in Anderson, Indiana, Judy was the cherished daughter of Richard G. and Pearl (Crum) Scott. On January 26, 1971, she united in marriage with Donald Lane, and together they shared a profound love until his passing on July 23, 1995. Judy's faith was a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her membership in the Alexandria First Baptist Church.
A pillar of the Alexandria community, Judy dedicated herself to the service of others. Initially a self-employed hairdresser, she later found her true calling as a compassionate home healthcare practitioner, offering solace and care to numerous elderly residents in Alexandria.
Judy's love extended beyond her professional life into the heart of her family. A devoted mother and grandmother, she reveled in the joy of bringing her family together. Her unbreakable bonds with her brother, Larry, and sister Donna, illuminated the rich tapestry of her life.
Left to carry on her legacy are her loving children, Scott Lane and Dawnetta (Charles) Moore, and her dear sister, Donna Welborn. Judy's spirit lives on through her grandchildren, Ashley Lane, Gracelyn Gullion, Derek Carr-Lane, Emmalyn Gullion, Brynlyn Gullion, Donnie Lane, and Shaylyn Gullion, as well as her great-grandchildren, Gabe, Skyler, Bo, and Eli. Numerous nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.
She joins her parents, husband Donald Lane, brother Larry Scott, and sister-in-law Karen Scott in eternal rest. A celebration of Judy’s life is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, with Rev. Doug Doan officiating. A visitation will precede the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow, and a family interment of her cremains will take place in Park View Cemetery, on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.
Bud & Susan Whetsel are honored to care for Judy and to serve the Lane and Scott families once again. In this time of sorrow, may we remember Judy Lane for the warmth of her spirit, the kindness in her heart, and the enduring love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
