Joe Frank Isenburg, 69 of Alexandria lost his very brave and hard fought battle with cancer on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in IU-Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Joe was born in Scottsville, KY on Dec. 9, 1948 and was the son of Charlie Ray and Lizzie Jane (Neighbors) Isenburg. Joe married Terri (Little) Isenburg on Dec. 19, 1970. He was a graduate of Summitville High School and Ball State University where he received his Bachelor Degree in math and physics. He also graduated from Kettering with a Masters in Manufacturing Management.
He retired from General Motors/Delphi, Anderson in 2004 after 37 years of service. After his retirement he was employed by Enerdel in Indianapolis from 2008 to 2018.
Joe served in the Indiana National Guard and he was a classic car enthusiast. Joe was active in the community. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as Secretary.
and for 28 years he was the Alexandria Girls Basketball Statistician.
Joe is survived by his wife Terri, his children, Megan (Matt) Andrew and Jake (Mary) Isenburg, three brothers, Ricky Isenburg, Randy Isenburg, Carl Isenburg, four sisters, Mary Kirkwood, Brenda Nixon, Gale Cox, Sandy Nixon. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dalton, Kenzie and Daxton Andrew and Allie, Henry, Joe and Olivia Isenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Odell, Johnnie and a sister Jan Clemmons.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 2107 S Park Ave., Alexandria with Rev. Michael Deutsch officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
