Jerry Lee Morris, 87 died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, in Community Hospital, Anderson after a sudden illness with his loving family by his side.
Jerry was born in Summitville on Apr. 9, 1934, and was the son of Gene and Claire (Iliff) Morris. He later married his wife of 65 years, Dovie Jane Morris on Jun. 20, 1954. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2019.
He was a member of the Circle of Hope Church, Anderson, the White River Folk and Bluegrass Music Club and Alexandria Historical Club.
Jerry was retired from Fisher Body, Marion after 37 years in the Skilled Trades Dept.
Jerry was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He always loved spending time with his family and traveling with them. He was an avid photographer and has taken pictures of serval famous music stars and enjoyed watching sprint car racing.
Left to carry on his legacy of love, are his children, Iliff Morris, Sherri Caldwell, Lori (Scott) Guilkey, Lisa (Dannie) Morton and Amy Simon; his brothers, Steve (Karen) Morris and Tony (Alice) Morris; his sisters, Brenda (Ed) Hannah and Sherill Benson, a sister-in-law, Lucille Morris. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Blaine, Ashley, Dustin, Brittney, Jeff, Heidi, Heather, Danielle, Brandi and Tim and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dovie Jane and a brother, Tom Morris.
A service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave, Alexandria with Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
