Janice Sue Phelps, 85 of Alexandria left this earth peacefully on March 22, 2024, surrounded by her family and was reunited with husband, Pyrtle Phelps, her mother, Mary Jane (Whipple) Pyle, her father, Harold L. Sizelove and step-father, Jonnie Pyle, her brothers, John Sizelove, Dick Sizelove and her sister, Joyce Brashears and grandson Christopher Barnes.
Janice had been retired from Ram Graphics in Alexandria and later worked at Marie Thurston Elementary School helping with the kids in the lunch room, where she was affectionately known as Grandma to the students.
Janice was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to have family and friends join her in celebrating the holidays and family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.
Those left to cherish her memory and legacy of love, is her son, Gene Brown, daughters, Sue (Dorin) Matney, JaneAnn (Bo) Embry and Anita (Nick) Inglis. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Josh (Amanda) Brown, Jacob (Christine Danger) Brown, Jordan Brown, Jessica (Shawn) Gilliam, Andrew (Diane) Embry, Zach (Kristina) Embry, Adam (Devin) Inglis, Ryan (Lainie) Inglis. Her great-grandchildren, Jasper, Ainsley, Leland Brown, Aiva Jean Brown, Kaden Brown, MacKenzie Crouch, Alice, Camron Embry, Lincoln, Reid Inglis and Elijah and Elias Inglis.
Janice was also blessed with an extended family of sons, Ernie (Genny) Phelps, Gene (Susie) Phelps, Mike Phelps, Ray Phelps, and Joe Phelps; daughters, Becky Morris, Regina (Billy Street) Barnes and 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. And special friends Jerry (Mindy) Devaney and Dave (Joyce) Miller.
A Celebration of life Gathering will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Alexandria Community Center, 315 S. Harrison St., Alexandria from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held in Park View Cemetery at a later date.
