Janice A Martin, 77 of Alexandria, died Monday, January 20, 2025, at her residence after extended illness while surrounded by her loving family.
Janice was born in Elwood, Indiana on January 24, 1947, and was the daughter of Charles Cecil and Madalyn (Morris) Ferguson. She later married Fredrick “Rick” Martin who survives.
Janice had worked in various retail stores for 30 years before her retirement.
Janice was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and always enjoyed her time spent with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Rick Martin, son, Scott (Heather) Martin, daughter, Wendy (Steve) Alford,sister, Karen (Dave) Haas. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kayla Idlewine, Johnathan (Priscilla) Idlewine, Joseph Idlewine, Scott (Kourtnie) Martin, Hanna Martin , Sidney Bassett and Garrett Martin and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Larry Ferguson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville where burial will follow with Rev. Lester Turner officiating. A visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, Alexandria.
