Janet C. Pruden, 83 of Alexandria passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 in Edgewater Woods, Anderson after a brief illness.
Janet was born in Alexandria on Oct. 10, 1932 and was the daughter of Paul C. and Sylvian C. (Eden) Kauffman. On Oct. 29, 1950 she married Jerry D. Pruden who preceded her in death on Aug.18, 1987.
She retired from the Alexandria-Monroe School Corp. in 1997 after 23 years as the Corporation Treasurer. She was previously employed by the Thomas Insurance Agency of Alexandria.
She was a 65 year member of the RHO Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she currently served as President. She also was a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Alexandria.
Janet was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to knit and play cards with family and friends. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Purdue Basketball.
Janet is survived by her children, Jay (Gayle) Pruden of Sebastian, FL., Seth (Karen) Pruden of Fishers, Jana (Jeff) Kiphart of Alexandria, Maxilynn (Ronald) Voss of Meridian, ID. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amy Snodgrass, Kimberly Pruden, Jackie Pruden, Jennifer Pruden, Adam Pruden, Benjamin Pruden, Michael Pruden, Sarah Pruden, Zachary Kiphart, Trevor Voss and six great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry D. Pruden and two brothers, Wayne Kauffman and Max Kauffman.
A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
