James Lee Welborn, 79 of Anderson and former Summitville resident died on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Community Hospital, Anderson.
James was born in Alexandria on Sept. 2, 1942, and was the son of Clinton and Ruth Juanita (Tomlinson) Welborn. Later, he served his country during the Vietnam War serving with the United States Army where he was a member of the Military Police.
He was retired from Delco Remy-Anderson after 33 years of service.
James was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed going on his annual fishing trip to Lake Erie where he would spend the whole month of July just fishing and enjoying life. James loved his family and loved spending time with them.
Left to carry on his legacy of love are his children, Patrick (Amy) Welborn, Zach (Olivia Mathews) Welborn, Leigh Welborn-Hoover, Kelly (Doug) Delaney; his grandchildren, Curtis (Tasya) Welborn, Blake (Aimee Pope) Hoover, Everett Delaney, Justin Welborn, Julia Welborn, Lily Delaney, and Sam Delaney; great-grandchildren, Brinlee and Cami Mae; his brother, Michael (Rosemary) Welborn and a sister-in-law, Shirley Welborn.
A celebration of James’s life will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave, Alexandria with members of James’s family as celebrates. Military Rites will be performed by the Elwood VFW and the United States Army. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
