James L. “Jim” Somers, 85 of Daleville died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness.
Jim was born in Delphos, KS on Sept. 22, 1931 and was the son of Orlan Raymond and Tossie (Sinclair) Somers. On Feb. 22, 1977 he married Terren C. (Hollingsworth) Somers who survives.
He was retired from Biddles Precision Components and had been employed at Best Lock Corp. for 26 years. Jim was a very patriotic man and served his country during the Korean War as a Medical Technician with the United States Army.
Jim was an avid reader, who enjoyed camping and traveling. He loved his church, attending Glad Tidings Assembly of God and he loved his family.
Left to cherish his memory, is his wife Terren, his children, Cynthia Burke, Catherine Somers, Beverly McCalister, Brian (Sandra) Walker, Vaughn (Connie) Walker and Jeff (Roberta) Walker, sisters, Nancy Graham and Shirley Wilson. Also surviving are his 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with another due to arrive in July.
A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 815 E.. School St., Anderson, Indiana with Rev. Matt Boldiszar and Chaplin Vaughn Walker officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 446 Honor Guard.
