James George

James Russell George, age 72, passed away on November 01, 2020 at his residence in Anderson, IN. He was under hospice care dying of terminal liver cancer. Jim was born in Tuscola, IL. on November 13, 1947 to Earl and Lois (Hinds) George. He graduated from Newman High School in 1965. Then finished 11-month M.D.T.A. Mech. Drafting Course in Danville, IL. He was stationed in Japan most of his 4-year-service in the U.S. Army.
Jim married Sherry Kay (Myllari) Maakestad, on May 22, 1971 at the Pleasant Ridge Church, Newman, IL. He helped raise her sons, John and Tom and their daughter, Tammy. He also worked and retired from University Plaza, DeKalb, IL. Jim currently attended Connection Pointe Church, Anderson, IN.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Tammy (George) and husband Shaun Green of Anderson, IN; step-son, John Maakestad-George of Madison, WI.; brother, Ken and Nancy (Olds) George of Leola, PA.; sister, Patricia (George) and William Reed of Wewahitchka FL.; brother, Kevin and Carolyn (Cook) George of Allerton, IL.; sister, Sheryl (George) and Douglas Maxwell of Tolono, IL.; Grand-daughter, Briana Jensen and great grand-son, Stewie David Jensen of Wisconsin.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lois George; wife, Sherry Kay George, and step-son, Tom Maakestad-George.
There will not be any public services for James.
Services have been entrusted to Whetsel Funeral Services, Alexadnria.
