James Gavin (Jim) Forrester, 72 of Alexandria died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 after an extended illness at his home while in the company of his loving family.
Jim was born in Owosso, MI on Oct. 26, 1940 and was the son of Harold and Opal (Ackeles) Pringle. On Oct. 28, 1972 he married Rachel (Young) Forrester.
Jim owned and operated Forrester Construction for several years before his retirement.
Jim enjoyed Tuesday’s Family Night, watching football and all kinds of sports. Jim loved hunting and fishing, especially with his children.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rachel, five sons, Gavin (Melissa) Forrester, Casey (Kristy) Forrester, Ray (Lindy) Forrester, Brian Forrester and Carl Forrester; four daughters, Corinne (Kyle) Williams, Diane Forrester, Linda (Jim) Oldaker, April Forrester, a sister, Sharon (Ernie) Larner. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, Charlotte, Stephen, Reid, Chris, Jamie, Brian, Ashlee, Christina, Arlene, Levi, Anahleisa, Kinsley, Kailynn, Aubrey, Makenah, Brayden and Leah, and eight great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cunningham and his brother, Terry Forrester.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service with Bud Whetsel officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer Assn., 50 E 91st. Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240 or in care of the funeral home.
