James A. (Jim) Dunlap, 76 of Bradenton, Fl went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Jim was born Aoril 26, 1948 to Junior and Agnes (Richards) Dunlap. He was a graduate of Summitville High School, class of 1966. Jim served his country in United States Army, serving one year with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam. He married Cheryl Watts on September 26, 1969, He retired from Delphi Corporation in 2002 after 32 years of service.
Surviving is his wife, Cheryl, a daughter Dawn (Jeremy) Lantz, Riverview, FL. a son, Kevin Dunlap, Bradenton, FL., and a grandson, Jameson Lantz. Also surviving are two brothers, Don Dunlap, Noblesville, and Jay (Kim) Dunlap of Summitville; two sisters, Barbara Pattison of Summitville, and Pattie (Brian) Peppers of Alexandria as well as sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Monte) Sprague of McCordsville and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rex Dunlap, brother-in-law Rodney Pattison, sister-in-law Linda Dunlap, nephew Michael Dunlap and father and mother-in-law Arthur and Opal Watts.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S. Park Ave., Alexandria with Rev. Hiatt Dunlap officiating. A burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, New York 10306 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
