Jack Dean, 90 of Alexandria and formerly of Summitville died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at his residence after an extended illness.
Jack was born around Fairmount, IN on Aug. 11, 1931, and was the son of Rolla and Mary (Kauffman) Dean. He was a 1949 graduate of Summitville High School. He later married Wreatha (Scott) Dean on Dec. 1, 1951, in Alexandria, IN.
Jack retired from General Motors after 37 Years. He was a former member of the Summitville Lions Club, Jack enjoyed flying model airplanes and a member of the Madison Co. Academy of Model Aeronautics. He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes and was an avid fisherman and loved camping with his family. Jack was also known as Mr. Fix It, there wasn’t anything he could not fix or repair.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 70 years, Wreatha (Scott) Dean, a daughter, Lora (Lance) Rotramel; a brother, Robert (Shirley) Dean; and his grandson, Kelly Scott (Jennifer Carter) Phillips. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Linda Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gladys Seibold.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Jack on Saturday, Sept 11, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in Jones Cemetery, Yorktown. Burial of his cremains will follow the service.
Arrangements are being handled by Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave Chapel, Alexandria.
