ALEXANDRIA: Gertrude E. “Gert” Glotzbach, 88 of Alexandria died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Tipton after an extended illness.
Gert was born in Tipton on Mar. 26, 1929 and was the daughter of William and Hilda (Peters) Gall. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph Academy, Tipton. On May 26, 1951 she married Ed Glotzbach in Tipton, IN. She was previously employed at Delco Remy-Anderson for a time and retired later after many years as a home maker.
Gert was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Alexandria. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crocheting and canning and gardening.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathy (Jim) Broyles, Donna (Iseral) Flatford, brothers, John (Emma) Gall, Tom (Rita) Gall, sister, Mary Sutton, sister-in-law, Virginia Gall.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Angela Jackson, Nathan Patz, Emily (Derek) Blue, Jacob Flatford, Mason Flatford, great-grandchildren, Julie, Gary, Kim, Vanessa and great-great-grandchildren, Stephi, Angel and Alex and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed Glotzbach, daughter, Joan Jordan, son-in-law, David Jordan, brothers, Joe Gall, Edward Gall and sisters, Helen Plumer and Sister Laura Gall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Church of St. Mary, Alexandria with Fr. Dan Duff as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Tipton. Friends may call at the Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church. A Rosary Service will be held Tuesday at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials contributions be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund, 820 W Madison, Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
Gert’s family wishes to extend their appreciation to Miller’s Merry Manor for their thoughtful and compassionate care of their mother and grandmother.
