Dovie Jane Morris, 81 of Alexandria died Thursday, September 5, 2019 in St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness; in the company of her loving family.
Dovie was born in Alexandria on December 1, 1937 and was the daughter of Huey C and Lela Z. (Ponder) Stelter. On June 20, 1954 she married Jerry L Morris.
Dovie was a home maker who absolutely loved her family and caring and spending time with them.
She never knew a stranger, Dovie enjoyed going to flea markets to meet new people and music. She especially loved gospel and country music.
Dovie was a member of the Circle of Hope Church in Anderson and White River Bluegrass.
Left to carry on her legacy of love is her husband of 65 years, Jerry L. Morris, two sons, David Morris and Iliff Morris; four daughters, Sherri Caldwell, Lorri( Scott) Guilkey, Lisa(Dannie) Morton and Amy (Chris) Simon. A brother, Toland J. Stelter. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Bruce, Holly, Adam, Matt, Blaine, Ashley, Dustin, Brittany, Jeff, Heidi, Heather, Danielle, Brandi and Tim; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Dovie’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Jerry Alexander and Rev. Charles Holder officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Circle of Hope Church, 2406 Delaware St., Anderson, IN 46016 or in honor of Dovie please donate blood at your local blood bank.
