Donald Robert (Bob) Baldwin, 91 of Alexandria and a former Anderson resident died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 in the Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.
Bob was born in Madison Co., Indiana on Nov. 27, 1923 and was the son of Marion F. and Essie
J. (Davis) Baldwin. He married Mary Kathleen (Murdock) Baldwin who preceded him in death.
Bob served in the Indiana National Guard and was retired from LaVelle Foundry of Anderson.
Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Anderson , Chesterfield American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Council 563 where he was a 4th degree Knight and a Past Grand Knight..
Bob was a loving grandfather and cherished every one of his grandchildren. He was fan of the Indianapolis Colts and an avid NASCAR fan.
Bob is survived by a sister, Elsie Whitson of Anderson, 11 grandchildren, Don (Denise) Baldwin, Shawn Baldwin, Heidi Peterson, Gretchen Baldwin, Heather Dunn, Holly McAshlan, Terrell Baldwin, Jeff Baldwin, Kerri Baldwin, John Baldwin and Mike Baldwin and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is special friend Marilyn Cox.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, two sons, Francis and Terry Baldwin, seven brothers, James, Thomas , Earl, Carl, Gilbert, Laurel and Thurrell Baldwin, one sister, Mabel Rumler.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S. Park Ave., Alexandria with Bud Whetsel as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.
