ANDERSON: Dewey Eugene Hobbs, 101 of Anderson died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness.
Dewey was born in Tipton Co., Indiana on Jan. 19, 1917 and was the son of Percy and Maude (Cox) Hobbs. He later married Mary (Daugherty) Hobbs who preceded him death on Nov. 26, 1995.
Dewey was a farmer in his earlier years and later owned and operated Hobbs Alignment in Anderson for several years before retiring.
He was a member of the Living Word Worship Center, Pendleton.
Dewey always enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and his Tuesday night card games.
He survived by his children, Larry (Camille) Hobbs of Knoxville, TN , Mary Hobbs of Middletown and Judy Landon of Anderson. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, sisters, Ruth A Hobbs, Gladys Edgell and a granddaughter, Wendy Stephens.
A service to celebrate Dewey’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.in the Living Word Worship Center, 6865 S 100 W, Pendleton with Rev. Roger Losch officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Living Word Worship Center, 6865 S 100 W, Pendleton, IN 46064 or in care of the funeral home.
