David Auth

March 18, 1932 — November 13, 2014

David G. Auth, 82 of Alexandria died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 in Manor Care Health Services, Anderson after an extended illness.

David was born in Alexandria and was the son of George and Ruby (Johnson) Auth, Jr.
He graduated from Alexandria-Monroe High School Class of 1950 and was member of the Church of St. Mary’s, Alexandria and the Indiana Sports Writers Association.

David had been employed by Frank’s Men’s Wear and Specialty Sports Shop, Specialty Manufacturing both of Alexandria. He later owned and operated Broadway Sports in Alexandria for several years. He also served as the Sports Editor of the Alexandria Tribune and authored a sports column entitled Auth Angle.

He is survived by his sister, Miriam J. Auth of Alexandria and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wilford Francis Auth.

A graveside service will be Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria where burial will follow. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Church of St. Mary’s Building Fund Church, 816 W. Monroe St., Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
