Charles C. “Chuck” Montgomery, 79 of Alexandria died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 in Community Hospital, Anderson after an extended illness.
Chuck was born in Summitville, IN on Aug. 28, 1935 and was the son of Clyde and Adda (Morris) Montgomery. On Aug. 23, 1953 he married Sandra J. (Reed) Montgomery in Alexandria, IN.
Chuck served his country during peace time with the Indiana National Guard and was a member of the First Christian Church in Alexandria.
Chuck was retired from Delco Remy after 27 years of service in the Advanced Engineering Dept. Through the years working at Delco Remy Chuck had obtained several patents on battery vents.
He was a loving and caring father and devoted grandfather, he always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and them with him. Chuck enjoyed fishing and had a real talent for poetry, along with his wife Sandy, he has written numinous poems and short stories.
Surviving are his sons, Brad (Bonnie) Montgomery of Woodland, CA and Rich (Melissa) Montgomery of Alexandria, IN; his sister, Ruth Cunningham of Springport, IN. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Patricia Montgomery, Charles V. Montgomery, Hunter Montgomery, Haleigh Montgomery and one great-grandson, Harbor Mize.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandy on April 10, 2011, his son, Jeff who died just a few hours before Chuck on Feb. 18, 2015, and grandchildren, Seth Montgomery and Chelsey Montgomery.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at a late date at the convenience of the family
