Carrie Sue Sterling

Carrie Sue Sterling, a beloved soul of 46 years from Alexandria, gracefully departed this world on July 18, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, following her valiant battle.

Born on January 30, 1978, in Anderson, Indiana, Carrie was the cherished daughter of John Garner and Sue Miller. She embraced her roles as a devoted mother, grandmother, and daughter with utmost love and tenderness. Carrie found joy in the presence of her family and friends; her warm spirit illuminated the lives of all who were fortunate to know. Her loyalty and unwavering friendship endeared her to those closest to her heart.

Carrie leaves behind a legacy of affection that will be deeply cherished by her daughters, Avery Dawn DeVine and Trista (Joshua) Shipp; her parents Sue (Jerry) Miller and John (Regina) Garner; her grandchildren Roman, Elora, and CiCi Shipp; her brother John (Penny) Garner; sisters Stephanie (Scott) Thompson, Emily Lawson, Carrie Miller and Sheila (Chris) Chandler; as well as her maternal grandmother Alma Elbert.

She is reunited in peace with her grandparents John F. Elbert, Lee and Delores Garner, Richard and Marylou Sterling, and uncle Martin Elbert.

A memorial gathering to honor Carrie's memory will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave Chapel in Alexandria. Cremation has been chosen to follow the gathering. Guests are invited to share their cherished memories of Carrie by placing them in the memory box provided at the funeral home.
