Brittany Ann Swegman, 27 of Alexandria died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 in St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
Brittany was born in Indianapolis, IN on Nov. 18, 1986 and was the daughter of Christopher and Julie (Hittle) Thompson. On June 19, 2010 she married Kurtis Swegman.
Brittany was employed at the Alexandria-Monroe High School as para professional. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Alexandria; President of the Alexandria Women’s Bowling Assn. Brittany was a graduate of Westfield-Washington High School and Purdue University. She was currently enrolled at Ivy Tech pursuing her nursing degree.
Brittany was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was always devoted to her family and enjoyed every second she could spend with them.
Left of cherish her memory is her husband, Kurtis, her children, Hayden, Christopher Gage and Faith Ann Swegman, her parents, Christopher (Gary Handy) Thompson , Julie Thompson, Don and Doris Swegman, her sister-in-law, Wendy (Korie) Trissel, Maternal grandmother, Phyllis Hittle, paternal grandfather, Lloyd Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Harlan Hittle, grandmother, Sharon Thompson, and sister, Stephanie Thompson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church, 215 W. Berry St., Alexandria with Rev. Julia Bratton officiating. A private family committal service will follow the services at Eagle Creek Cemetery, Westfield. Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at the First Christian Church from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Swegman family in care of the funeral home.
