Brenda Lee Stratton

Brenda Lee (Lakey) Stratton, 68 of Alexandria was carried by the angels to her heavenly home on January 4, 2025, while in the company of her loving family in Ascension St. Vincents Anderson Regional Hospital following an extended illness.

Brenda was born in Anderson on July 30, 1957, and was the daughter of Jerry and Donna (Chapman) Lakey. She was a graduate of Anderson High School. She was employed as an accounts manager for Bobcat of Indianapolis.

Brenda was a woman of faith and attended the Creek Christian Church, Indianapolis and was involved in the Women’s Mentoring Program at the church.

Brenda was passionate about her family and was a loving and caring wife and mother and grandmother. Always enjoying spending time with her family and taking vacations with her husband, Chuck.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Chuck Stratton, her children, Brian (Michelle) Pendley, Jennae (Steve) Schenk, and Shannon (Jim Copeland) Bailey, Shelly Thomas; her brothers and sisters, Jeff (Sally) Lakey, Bud (Susan) Whetsel, Starla Eaglin and Stacey (Norman) McMillian. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis Lakey.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. The visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
