Bobby Taylor

July 9, 1932 — February 7, 2014

Bobby S. Taylor, 81, of Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born in Wise, Va. On July 9, 1932 and was the son of Robert S. and Mollie V. (Stapleton) Taylor. On June 27, 1989 he married Virginia (Schuyler) Taylor.
Bobby served as a Merchant Marine and worked for 12 years in the coal mines near Wise, Va. Later he was employed at John Mansville for 25 years until it’s closing.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Anderson and Alexandria Lodge 235 of the F&AM.
Surviving is his wife Virginia, four sons, Bobby W. Taylor, Michael Taylor, David(Kelly) Kirchner and Daniel Kirchner, five daughters, Delores Phillips, Druscilla Taylor, Twila Gulligan, Dolena Zirkle and Donna (Dan) Banks; two adopted children, Robert and Kecia Taylor; three brothers, Doc Taylor, Bailey Taylor and Lawrence(Shirley) Smith; three sisters, Leah J.(George) Davis, Peggy Black and Laura F Jacobs. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are his wife's brothers and sisters, Harold Schuyler, John Schuyler, Betty Moran, Diane Morehead, Zelma /Reynolds, Velma Graves, Meggy Stephens and Peggy Allen.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles Taylor and Jack Taylor, grandson, Michael Sexton, great-granddaughter, Kynli Clevenger, a brother-in-law, who died the same day as Bobby, William Schuyler.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 in Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S. Park Ave., Alexandria at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 2324 Jackson, Anderson, IN or in care of the funeral home.
