Barbara R Cummins

Barbara R. Cummins,95, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Community Hospital in Anderson.

Born on May 26, 1929, in Alexandria, she was the cherished daughter of Sherman and Mildred (Eaton) Dickey. On August 28, 1946, Barbara married the love of her life, Jimmie D. Cummins, Sr.

A devoted homemaker, Barbara found immense joy in spending time with her family. She is survived by her two sons, Jimmie D. (Kathy) Cummins, Jr. and Robert Cummins; her daughter, Connie (Jerry) Ault, all of Alexandria; as well as ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Barbara also leaves behind her special niece, Linda Etchinson.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmie D. Cummins, Sr., her daughter Sharon Cummins, and her sister Mary Stellar.

A service of remembrance will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel in Alexandria, with Carl Bowen officiating. Interment of Barbara’s cremains will be held later at Park View Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the same day.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Community Hospital's Three East and the staff at Summit Living and Health for their compassionate care of Barbara during her time with them.
