Anna Ruth Young, 85 of Alexandria went to be with her Lord and loving husband Friday, June 27, 2014 in IU/Ball Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Anna Ruth was born on Dec. 18, 1928 and raised in Gaston, IN and was the daughter of Welman and Dorothy (Knotts) Watson. She later moved to Alexandria when she married her husband Jack Young on Aug. 26, 1950.
Anna Ruth was a charter member of Kings Chapel Church, Alexandria and the Gilman Home Extension Club. She had been a 4H leader for many years and supported 4H until her passing.
Anna Ruth was a homemaker and the creator of the famous homemade noodles at Rachel’s Hi-Way Café.
Anna Ruth was a loving and admirable woman of God, a devoted grandmother and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her two daughters, Rachel Forrester of Alexandria and Ramona (Jeff) Bever of Frankton, a son, Roger (Cindy) Young of Alexandria, a brother, Earl (Gretchen) Watson. Also surviving is grandchildren, Gavin (Melissa) Forrester, Corinne (Kyle) Williams, Casey (Kristy) Forrester, Michelle (Dwayne) Wilson, Lefa Reynolds, Lydia Warner, David (Jamie) Bever and Alicia (Josh) Douglas, Ray (Lindy) Forrester, Diane Forrester, Linda (Jim) Oldaker and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack on Mar. 26, 2004 and her son-in-law, James Forrester on Oct. 24, 2013.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kings Chapel Church in care of the funeral home.
