Agnes Eileen Johnson

Alexandria

(Agnes) Eileen Johnson, 96 of Alexandria passed from this life to her enteral rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at her home while surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born in Alexandria on March 1, 1928, to Joseph and Christina (Emundts) Roesler.  On March 31, 1951, she married James A Johnson, who predeceased her death.

 She went to school at St. Mary’s through the eighth grade and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946. Eileen was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Mary’s in Alexandria.

Eileen was employed at Alladin for four years. In April of 1950 she started employment at Delco Remy in Anderson until she retired on February 1, 1987. 

After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Eileen loved her animals, and bowling, gardening and trips to the casino.

Left to cherish her legacy of love and devotion are her children, daughters, Catherine Carmack, Cecelia Johnson and Ann Marie (Jim) Hochstedler and her son, James (Cathy) Johnson, II. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Michelle Heineman, Todd Carmack, Shayna Salway, James, John, Joshua, and Jacob Johnson. 10 great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Alex Heineman, Colton and Bristol Carmack, Alana, Ella, Liam Salway, Giuliana and Delilah Johnson and Jacoby Johnson.

Eileen was preceded in death by her, Parents, her husband, James A. Johnson, her daughter, Julie Johnson, brothers, William Roesler and Leo Roesler and her sister Regina Hellmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary’s, Alexandria with Fr. David Hellmann as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery.  A Rosary Service will be held on Friday, the 7th at 9:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. to 11: 15 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the St. Mary’s School, 820 W. Madison St., Alexandria, Indiana 46001 or envelopes will be available at the church.
